Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022) Episode 4 Review
It’s been three weeks and I am still trying to figure out why this series was made. Perhaps the project was better off as a full length feature, maybe then the plot wouldn’t be so stretched thin.
A lot has been said of newcomer Moses Ingram as inquisitor Reva. I like to believe that whoever resorted to racial slurs simply lacked the capacity to articulate what they perceived was the problem. Quite frankly, Ingram is out of place, mostly because she lacks the talent to be compelling. She reeks of ambition, the kind that would lead her to choke on her own aspirations and all of it is so, boring. Living up to the Grand Inquisitor’s assessment, she’s the least of them.
It’s interesting how so much work went into finding the cast of Episode 7 of the Skywalker saga, yet that rigorous attention to detail is seemingly gone when the likes of O’Shea Jackson Jr. can make it unto the series.
Ever since the people behind The Force Unleashed showed us how compelling the action in a galaxy far away can be when you place it in a dark room, I’ve always wondered why it hadn’t been done on film. While this episode comes close to delivering on this, the frame composition and suspense building fails to capitalize on its merits. Nor does it deliver in the ensuing sequence where Kenobi finally wields his saber with confidence. Although confusing how…
